My Story.

She Flies With Her Own
Wings

Several years ago, I adopted  "She Flies with Her Own Wings"--from the Latin "Alis Volat Propriis"--for my personal motto. It represents staying true to myself,  a willingness to take risks, and a guidepost to follow my own artistic pathway.

I have used the phrase as a title in several pieces of my work, which is often represented as an empty nest except for a single feather. Don’t look for the owner of this feather, for she has taken flight, using her skills, talents, and strengths.

 I am

I was born a Mid-Century Modern in Motown, right in the southeast corner of the Mitten State. Educated at Wayne State University, I earned a BS in Education and an MA in Studio Art. After spending a decade at a regional non-profit arts organization in arts administration, I left the non-profit sector to concentrate on pursuing an active studio practice in 2009.

Along the way, I’ve become an award-winning multi-media artist, producing works from oil paintings to pencil drawings to the construction of mixed media pieces. My art can be found in local galleries, exhibitions, and private and corporate collections.

Currently, I serve as adjunct faculty in arts and humanities at Wayne County Community College District. Represented by River’s Edge Gallery in Wyandotte, I maintain a studio at Fishnet Artist Studios, located in Dearborn, Michigan.
